SR1Rafting answers 1. What elements of composition are under your control?
Tone, Sharpness, Scale, and Arrangement. One thing to remember that is a subset of these is white space.
2. How can a page be balanced?
It can be balanced either symmetrical or asymmetrical. Symmetrical balance has objects placed equally on either side while in asymmetrical balance the objects are unequally placed relative to the focal point. The focal point is also known as the optical center of the image.
3. Name three differences between print and web design.
Print is identical and is seen in-person and is permanent and stable, while on the web the image will have differences based on how it is viewed such as size, quality/resolution, and colors. Images on the Web can be affected by hardware and software and the content can be easily changed. Lastly, in print, the design is made for a limited size in inches, and on the web, it is made for a flexible website in pixels.
4. Under what conditions can an image not be used in a project.
Images that are copyrighted where permission to use has not been given, or fair use doctrine/derivative work that you then try to sell to a paying client. In the textbook, it says you can use a picture you got off the web for a class project but you cannot use that same picture in a project for a paying client!
PB1-1Bridges answers 3. What are the sorting and printing limitations of Mini Bridge versus Bridge?
Mini Bridge provides less data but is easier to use for more simple tasks. Mini Bridge is opened within photoshop and is used to locate and open files. Mini Bridge however has to have Bridge open to using it. Bridge can sort files in multiple ways such as by name or files youve identified as important and you can label your files in Bridge. Mini Bridge to restate is just used to find and out files without needing to close out Photoshop.
4. Be prepared to discuss the best usages of Bridge and Mini Bridge.
Mini Bridge is a less-powerful smaller version of Bridge that opens inside photoshop. Mini Bridge is the best used to locate a file and open it in photoshop without having to close out of photoshop. Bridges best usage is to rate or sort the files you know you need or want to work on so that they are easier to find when it comes time to work on them in photoshop. Bridge and Mini Bridge and made to be used hand in hand, and an example of this is maybe you have 10 files for one photoshop project but they are all over the place. You can use Bridge to sort the files and have all 10 next to each other and then once working on the project you can use Mini Bridge to open the files you need quickly and easily.
PB1-2Website answers 2. Keep track of the most relevant website and make notes of key points on the information youve found.
https://wearemotto.com/designers-guide-to-communicating-with-clients/ All of the points made in this blog are incredibly helpful and important to keep in mind when working with clients. Of course, the number one thing to do is ASK QUESTIONS. Even though this blog puts it last in their list I think it should the first in every list. It is the most basic thing for communicating but is often the most overlooked. You may think you are on the same page about something and one simple question could make you notice you are not. If the other people are not asking questions it may be awkward but you should keep asking questions since they might not know what to even ask. It is better to be safe than sorry.
3. Be prepared to discuss how youll effectively interact with your design clients when the time comes.
In many sites, they bring up not using Design-Speak and using visuals to communicate. These are big for me personally because I am a very visual learner and keeping things simple is the best way to avoid miscommunications. Technical terms can get confusing between people in different fields because a term can mean different things in different scenarios. This is why it is important to use more simple easy for everyone language when working with clients, even when working in a design group. Visuals are something I will always do. Even a simple outline to show where certain things will be placed and help since something can be visualized differently in each persons head! Using both visuals and non-design-speak makes the consultation process faster and more accurate.
